English Verb Correction | ৫ম শ্রেণি | সমগ্র বই থেকে
English Grammar-এ Verb Correction বা Right Forms of Verbs সঠিকভাবে করতে পারা যেকোনো ইংরেজি লেখার বা পরীক্ষার জন্য অত্যন্ত জরুরি। ইংরেজি বাক্যের প্রাণ হলো Verb। তাই Subject-এর সাথে Verb-এর সঠিক রূপের মিলকরণ বা Tense-এর সঠিক ব্যবহার জানা আবশ্যক।
নিচে Verb Correction সঠিকভাবে শেখার জন্য প্রধান প্রধান নিয়ম ও বিষয়গুলোর একটি গোছানো তালিকা দেওয়া হলো:
১. Subject-Verb Agreement (কর্তা ও ক্রিয়ার মিল)
বাক্যের Subject (কর্তা) যদি Singular (একবচন) হয়, তবে Verb-ও Singular হবে। আর Subject যদি Plural (বহুবচন) হয়, তবে Verb-ও Plural হবে।
- নিয়ম: Singular Subject + Singular Verb | Plural Subject + Plural Verb
- উদাহরণ:
- Incorrect: He go to school everyday.
- Correct: He goes to school everyday. (He singular হওয়ায় goes হয়েছে)
২. Tense-এর সঠিক ব্যবহার ও চেনার উপায় (Keywords)
কোনো ঘটনাটি কোন সময়ে ঘটেছে তা বুঝে Tense নির্ধারণ করতে হয়। বাক্যে কিছু বিশেষ শব্দ (Keywords) দেখে Tense চেনা যায়:
- Present Indefinite Tense: বাক্যে always, regularly, everyday, daily, usually, generally, normally থাকলে Present Indefinite Tense হয়।
- উদাহরণ: He (come) here everyday àHe comes here everyday.
- Present Continuous Tense: বাক্যে now, at this moment, at present থাকলে Present Continuous Tense হয়।
- উদাহরণ: They (play) football now àThey are playing football now.
- Past Indefinite Tense: বাক্যে yesterday,ago, long ago, once, last night, in 1995 ইত্যাদি অতীত নির্দেশক শব্দ থাকলে Past Indefinite Tense হয়।
- উদাহরণ: He (leave) home yesterday àHe left home yesterday.
৩. Preposition-এর পর Verb-এর রূপ
Preposition (যেমন: to, in, on, by, for, without, before, after ইত্যাদি)-এর পরে সাধারণত Verb-এর সাথে -ing যুক্ত হয় (Gerund)। তবে 'to'-এর পর যদি কোনো উদ্দেশ্য বোঝায় বা Infinitive নিয়ম হয়, তবে Verb-এর Base form (Present form) বসে।
- নিয়ম: Preposition + (Verb + ing)
- উদাহরণ:
- Correct: She is fond of (read) books àShe is fond of reading books.
- Correct: I went to market to (buy) a pen àI went to market to buy a pen.
৪. Modal Auxiliary Verbs-এর ব্যবহার
কিছু Modal Auxiliary Verbs (যেমন: can, could, may, might, shall, should, will, would, must, need, dare, ought to) থাকলে এদের ঠিক পরেই Verb-এর Base form (Present form) বসে এবং এর সাথে কোনো s/es বা -ing যুক্ত হয় না।
- উদাহরণ:
- Incorrect: You must (do) the work.
- Correct: You must do the work.
৫. Causative Verbs (Make, Let, Have, Get)
বাক্যে Causative Verb-গুলোর ব্যবহার জানাও জরুরি:
- Make, Let, Have-এর পর Active Sense-এ Verb-এর Base form বসে।
- উদাহরণ: He made me (laugh) àHe made me laugh.
- Get-এর পর Object এবং এরপর Past Participle V3 বসে।
- উদাহরণ: I got the letter (write) àI got the letter written.
৬. Conditional Sentences (শর্তযুক্ত বাক্য)
Conditionals বা শর্তযুক্ত বাক্যের ক্ষেত্রে Tense-এর নির্দিষ্ট গঠন মেনে চলতে হয়:
- First Conditional: If + Present Indefinite + Future Indefinite
- উদাহরণ: If you come, I (go) à If you come, I will go.
- Second Conditional: If + Past Indefinite + Subject + would/could/might + V1
- উদাহরণ: If I (be) a king, I would help the poor àIf I were a king, I would help the poor.
- Third Conditional: If + Past Perfect + Subject + would have/could have/might have + V3
- উদাহরণ: If you had come, I (see) you àIf you had come, I would have seen you.
৭. Passive Voice-এর নিয়ম
বাক্যটি যদি Passive Voice-এ থাকে (অর্থাৎ Subject নিজে কাজটি না করে যদি অন্যের দ্বারা কাজটি করায়), তবে সাহায্যকারী Verb-এর পর মূল Verb-এর Past Participle V3 বসাতে হয়।
- উদাহরণ:
- Incorrect: English (speak) all over the world.
- Correct: English is spoken all over the world.
৮. Gerund বনাম Infinitive
বাক্যে Subject বা Object হিসেবে অনেক সময় Verb ব্যবহার করতে হয়। কোথায় Verb-এর সাথে -ing (Gerund) বসবে এবং কোথায় to + Verb (Infinitive) বসবে, তার সুনির্দিষ্ট নিয়মগুলো আয়ত্ত করতে হবে। যেমন—avoid, mind, enjoy, worth ইত্যাদির পর Gerund বসে; আবার want, decide, hope, plan ইত্যাদির পর Infinitive বসে।
💡 পরামর্শ: Verb Correction ভালোভাবে আয়ত্ত করার জন্য শুধু মুখস্থ না করে নিয়মের পেছনের কারণগুলো বুঝুন এবং নিয়মিত বিভিন্ন এক্সারসাইজ বা প্র্যাকটিস শিট সমাধান করুন।
